Additional Information   German at CEFR B2 level, but it does NOT presuppose any previous knowledge of German-language literature or literary studies. All students with a B2 level of German are welcome, regardless of their L1and L2 module choice.

Description

The course provides a survey of major prose fiction (novels and novellas) from Germany and Austria during the twentieth century, from the end of the Wilhelminian era to the Wende. The texts studied enable students to trace literary and intellectual development over the period, but also require and reinforce an understanding of the political and social background.
